A generous reception, thoughtfully paced

How much food
should you plan?

If you are wondering how many canapés per person to order, start with the timing. A short welcome before dinner needs a lighter allocation than an evening when guests expect the reception to be their meal.

Build contrast: something fresh, something crisp, a warm savoury bite and a little sweetness. For a longer event, add substantial food such as bowls or a chef station. Eight different dishes means eight varieties, not a fixed serving count.

For example, a mixed menu might pair seafood and chicken with two vegetarian choices and a complete vegan selection. We refine the balance around your guest list, the kitchen and the sequence of your event.

Your canapé catering price depends on the number of pieces, the ingredients and how the food reaches your guests. Lobster, caviar and wagyu are premium upgrades; a shortlist containing them is costed individually.

A proposal should make the whole event clear: menu and quantities, preparation or finishing, chefs and passing staff, trays, equipment, delivery, setup and collection. Drinks, glassware, styling and event coordination can be discussed as additional scope.

myCHEF coordinates the experience with the assigned culinary partner. We confirm the venue facilities and service arrangements before committing to the final menu. Read how planning with myCHEF works.

Passed trays

Staff circulate with small batches, keeping food moving through the room. Warm dishes need a suitable finishing area and an agreed service schedule.

Delivery, where suitable

Selected menus may suit an agreed delivery and handover. Delicate hot food, transport time and refrigeration can change what is appropriate.

Every guest belongs at the table

Thoughtful choices.
Careful confirmation.

Halal sourcing is part of the brief. Our proposed collection contains no pork or intentionally added alcohol, and final ingredient specifications are checked with the culinary partner.

Vegetarian and vegan dishes deserve the same attention as every other plate. Explore plant-based catering for a complete menu, or combine these choices with your favourites. Dessert lovers can also consider a dedicated sweet display.

Tell us about allergies before confirming. The ingredient notes are a starting reference; final recipes and preparation conditions require review. Partner kitchens may handle allergens, and dedicated controls must be agreed where needed.

Before the first tray

Your questions,
thoughtfully answered.

The practical details that help you choose with confidence.

What is a canapé?

A canapé is a small, carefully assembled savoury bite, often served on bread, pastry, a crisp vegetable base or a tasting spoon. For a reception, we also include compact hot bites and miniature desserts so the menu has variety.

How many pieces should I allow for each guest?

Start with 6–8 pieces before a meal or 8–12 for a short standing reception. A longer evening needs more food and often substantial bowls or a station. Timing, portion size and the guest list determine the final quantities.

How much food is needed for 50 or 100 guests?

For a pre-dinner welcome, 50 guests suggest 300–400 pieces and 100 guests suggest 600–800. These are planning ranges. Our calculator changes with your format; drinks, bowls and any extra contingency are agreed separately.

How many different dishes should I choose?

Six to eight varieties make a useful starting shortlist. Include contrasting textures, hot and cold food, and meaningful choices for different diets. The number of varieties is separate from the number of pieces each guest receives.

Can a canapé reception replace dinner?

It can, with a sufficiently substantial menu. Tiny bites alone may not suit a long evening. We can plan sliders, bowls, a food station or a seated course alongside the canapés, then confirm the full food allocation.

What does canapé catering cost in Dubai?

Our published starting point is AED 150 per guest, with a starting brief of ten guests. The final price depends on dishes, quantities, staff, equipment, location and duration. Prestige ingredients cost more; 5% VAT is shown separately in the proposal.

Are chefs, waiters and equipment included?

The written proposal specifies each inclusion. A delivered display and a staffed reception need different resources. Tell us whether you need chefs, passing staff, trays, glassware, hot holding, refrigeration, setup or collection so we can scope these clearly.

Do you offer delivery as well as passed service?

Ask us about both. Some chilled displays can suit delivery, while delicate hot items need on-site finishing and staff. We assess the menu, travel time, refrigeration and your venue before confirming the appropriate handover or service format.

Can you provide halal menus?

Halal sourcing is part of the menu brief. These concepts contain no pork or intentionally added alcohol. The culinary partner confirms ingredient specifications, sauces and sourcing; tell us before booking if your event requires particular documentation.

Are vegetarian and vegan menus available?

Yes. Explore the dedicated vegetarian and vegan collections, including plant-based dessert ideas. Final recipes, pastry, sauces and cheese specifications are checked with the culinary partner. A vegan menu can be designed as a complete reception.

Can you cater for allergies or gluten-free requirements?

Share each requirement before confirming. Ingredient lists here are indicative; final recipes and preparation conditions need review. Partner kitchens may handle allergens, so cross-contact cannot be ruled out unless dedicated controls are specifically agreed for your event.

Can we arrange a tasting?

Ask about a tasting when planning your event. Availability, the dishes to sample and any tasting charge are confirmed in advance. A tasting helps refine flavours, presentation and the balance of a larger reception menu.

Do you need a kitchen at the venue?

That depends on the selection. We check preparation space, power, water, refrigeration and access before confirming hot service. If facilities are limited, we recommend suitable dishes and identify any equipment hire needed in the quote.

Are canapés suitable for yachts and outdoor events?

Yes, subject to the vessel or venue assessment. Refrigeration, shade, service timing and a suitable finishing area matter. We choose practical presentations and manage replenishment around the setting rather than leaving delicate food on display for long periods.

Can the food match our brand or wedding colours?

Share your colour palette and event brief. Ingredients, serving pieces and menu cards can suggest the theme elegantly. Any bespoke recipe, branded presentation or unusual service piece is agreed and priced before production.

Can you pair the menu with drinks?

We can discuss a mocktail menu and bartender service alongside the food. Citrus, herbs, tea and fruit offer plenty of pairing possibilities. Any other beverage arrangements depend on the venue and confirmed service scope.

How far ahead should I enquire?

Contact us once you have a date and an approximate guest count, especially for weddings, festive dates and larger productions. Short-notice requests are assessed individually. Staff, ingredients and venue access must be confirmed before we accept the booking.

Are these photographs of the final dishes?

The images are AI-created menu illustrations showing the proposed style. Your chef confirms recipes, portions, availability and final presentation in the proposal. Use the collection to communicate preferences and discuss any presentation that particularly matters to you.

Which areas do you serve?

We plan receptions across Dubai, including Palm Jumeirah, DIFC, Downtown, Business Bay, Dubai Marina, Jumeirah and Emirates Hills. Send the exact address or yacht boarding point so we can confirm access, logistics and any additional charges.

What happens after I send my shortlist?

We review your date, venue, guest count and favourite dishes, then discuss a balanced menu and the required service. Your written proposal confirms quantities, ingredients, staffing, equipment, price and booking terms before you commit.
