Wedding Catering Cost Dubai: three products, not one ladder

Food-led buffets, hotel packages and chef-led villa dinners are priced differently. These are planning estimates for 2026. The written proposal is the only number that matters.

Wedding catering in Dubai through myCHEF is a food and beverage operation, not a package name. myCHEF designs and coordinates your catering plan, then matches your wedding with vetted chefs, service professionals and licensed culinary partners suited to the venue and menu. We manage the complete food and beverage operation and coordinate it with your wedding planner, venue and other suppliers.

This page is only about money: wedding catering prices in Dubai, the wedding catering cost per person, and how to read two quotes that look the same until you open the lines. Menus live on the wedding menu planning guide. The sequence lives on the wedding catering checklist.

Wider catering bands for dinners that are not weddings sit on the Dubai catering prices guide. If you want a working total from guest count and format, use the catering cost calculator: then treat that output as a sketch, not a contract.

Do not mix a drop-off buffet with a chef-led villa dinner

The live market: and most websites: collapse wedding catering cost in Dubai into one fake range. “From AED 120 to AED 750.” That sentence is how a couple books the wrong product and then feels overcharged.

There are three buys. Independent food-led catering: drop-off or a staffed buffet, priced mainly on food and the team that stands behind it. A hotel package: food plus a building, often a room night, sometimes a cake and a tasting. A chef-led plated villa dinner: a named chef and service team cooking on site. myCHEF’s core product is the third. We also design the first. We are not the hotel.

Independent specialists are often 30–40% below hotel F&B for similar food. The hotel is selling a building. We are selling a kitchen team. Both can be the right buy. Comparing the headlines is how you get angry.

Planning estimates for wedding catering prices in Dubai

Planning estimates, 2026, plus 5% VAT.
ProductEstimate
Food-only or drop-off wedding buffetFrom about AED 120 per guest. Minimum about 20 guests. Food and delivery, not a staffed reception.
Full-service wedding buffetTypically AED 180–350 per guest in the wider Dubai market; myCHEF’s published full-service buffet guide sits around AED 220–420. Minimum about 20 guests.
Live stations or premium buffetTypically AED 250–500 per guest once chefs stand in front of the room. Food-led station starting point about AED 150; staffed wedding stations usually land higher.
Canapé receptionTypically AED 120–250 per guest for the hour, or AED 180–350 on myCHEF’s published canapé guide. Usually added to dinner, not used instead of it.
Hotel-style plated wedding dinnerTypically AED 250–550 per guest with independent or hotel teams; five-star in-house packages often AED 380–800+ and may bundle the room.
Chef-led plated villa dinner (myCHEF’s core product)Typically AED 700–950 per guest, rising toward AED 1,200 for a luxury tasting. Named chef and service team cooking on site, not a banquet drop-off.

Typical minimum booking values already published on the site: from about AED 900 for food-led orders; chef-led evenings often sit on package floors around AED 2,400 / 3,600 / 4,500 depending on the team.

5% VAT is shown as its own line on every proposal. Always say what the estimate covers, what can sit outside it, and that the written proposal is the only number that matters.

What moves wedding catering cost per person

Guest count

Fixed costs — kitchen setup, a core team, delivery — spread across more covers. A 150-guest buffet often has a lower per-head figure than a 30-guest plated dinner of better food. Ask for the same menu at two counts if the list is still moving.

Format

Drop-off, staffed buffet, live stations, canapés and plated service are different labour plans. Theatre in front of the room costs more than a kitchen the guests never see.

Menu and produce

Premium proteins, imported items and a long tasting menu move the food line. A coherent seasonal menu is usually the calmer number — not a longer list of dishes.

The room

A villa with a working kitchen is not a beach plot with no power. Temporary kitchens, long load-ins and community gate rules all sit on the proposal when they apply.

What sits outside the head-rate

Rentals, dessert tables, cake, vendor meals, overtime, corkage, supplier-list fees and permits. Name them. We already put ours on separate lines.

Format is the fork most couples miss. A plated dinner needs more cooks and waiters timed to courses. Buffet versus plated is the service argument. This page is the money argument.

Guest-count sketches, not packages

These are arithmetic on the bands above. They are not offers. Change the format or the room and the total moves.

Thirty guests, chef-led villa dinner

This is usually the myCHEF core product: a named chef and service team cooking on site. At around AED 700–950 per guest the food-and-service line is about AED 21,000–28,500 before VAT — and the night may still need to clear a package floor around AED 2,400–4,500. You are paying for a kitchen team, not a banquet drop-off.

Eighty guests, staffed wedding buffet

In the staffed buffet band, around AED 180–350 per guest, the food-and-service line is about AED 14,400–28,000 before VAT. Live stations push it up. This is still independent catering. It does not include a hotel ballroom.

Two hundred guests, hotel invoice versus independent buffet

A five-star wedding package at AED 450 per guest for 200 people is AED 90,000 before you blink — and it may include the ballroom, a night for the couple, a tasting for four, and a cake. An independent buffet at AED 180 for the same 200 is AED 36,000 and does not include the room. Comparing those two headlines is how couples get angry. Compare what is inside.

A note on hotel invoices

This is where transparent sites earn the word. A five-star wedding package at AED 450 per guest for 200 people is AED 90,000 before you blink: and it may include the ballroom, a night for the couple, a tasting for four, and a cake. An independent buffet at AED 180 for the same 200 is AED 36,000 and does not include the room.

Ask every quote the same questions. Is the room inside? Is the cake inside? Is the tasting inside? How many waiters? What time does overtime start? If one invoice is a building and the other is a kitchen, they are not competitors. They are different products.

How to compare two quotes

  1. 01Same guest count on both pages. If one quote is for 120 and the other for 150, you are not comparing.
  2. 02Same format. A buffet headline next to a plated headline is not a saving.
  3. 03What is inside: food, chefs, waiters, rentals, dessert, cake, bar, tasting, delivery, clear-down.
  4. 04VAT as its own line. A number that “includes everything” and hides 5% is not cheaper.
  5. 05Cut-off time and overtime. Hotel hours are often where the second invoice appears.
  6. 06Kitchen: house kitchen, extra equipment, or a temporary kitchen at a site with no production space.
  7. 07Alcohol: in, out, or not permitted. Corkage if you bring your own.
  8. 08Minimum booking value. Small tables are often floors, not head-rates.

UAE VAT is 5%. On an independent buffet line of AED 36,000 that is AED 1,800. On a hotel package of AED 90,000 that is AED 4,500 unless the package was already quoted inclusive — in which case ask them to show the split. A proposal that does not show VAT is incomplete instead of cheaper.

Hidden lines we see on Dubai quotes

Ask for each by name. We already put ours on separate lines. These are typical market extras, not a promise that every wedding pays them.

CID alcohol permit
About AED 1,250 a day at licensed venues, when alcohol is served.
DET entertainment permit
If there is a band or public-facing production. Usually the venue or planner owns this calendar.
Municipality event permit
On very large days, where the site requires it.
Venue overtime
We see AED 5,000–20,000 an hour on some hotel contracts. Read the cut-off time.
Preferred-supplier penalties
Hotels that say no to external catering, or charge to say yes.
Rentals
Tableware, glassware, linen and furniture often AED 40–100 per guest when the house has none.
Dessert table
Often AED 50–100 per guest when it is a real station, not two trays of baklava.
Cake
Specialist wedding cakes from about AED 1,200. Coordinated, not always baked by the same kitchen.
Service team preparing glassware and plates for a wedding reception. Experience concept shown.
Labour, rentals and permits often sit outside a per-guest headline. Ask for those lines by name.

Always, sometimes, extra

Never list staff, bar, tableware and cake as “always included” and later as “may be extra.” The inclusion split is the same on every wedding page.

Always coordinated
Menu design · Chef matching · A named point of contact · Dietary planning · A written itemised proposal · Setup and clear-down of the food service
When the plan says so
Service staff · Tableware, glassware, linens · Bar team · Styling · On-site cooking equipment · A tasting
Optional additions
Cake and dessert table · Grazing table · Live stations · Late-night food · Children’s menu · Vendor meals · Coffee cart · Extra rental furniture
Venue or licensed partners
Kitchen access · Power, water, waste removal · Corkage and supplier-list fees · Weather cover · Loading windows. Alcohol service · Some hotel-ballroom executions · Specialist pastry · Temporary kitchens where the site has no production space.

Affordable wedding catering is the right product, not the lowest headline

A competitor’s AED 60 buffet is not our plated villa dinner. Using that number as if it were ours is how a site looks cheap and then expensive. Small wedding catering cost is often higher per guest because the team is divided fewer ways. That is arithmetic, not a luxury mark-up.

If the brief is a garden lunch for forty with a staffed buffet, we will build that. If the brief is twenty people and a tasting menu in a Palm villa, we will build that. We will not pretend they cost the same. 5% VAT is shown as its own line on every proposal.

How a quote is built

Date, venue or area, guest count, format, cuisine, dietary list, budget band, and whether you already have a planner. That is enough to start. The proposal is itemised: food, staff, rentals, extras, VAT. Nothing in this article replaces it.

When you are ready to hire, go to wedding catering Dubai. If you are still designing the food, stay on the menu guide. If the date is real and you need a sequence, use the checklist.

Wedding Catering Cost Dubai: Where these bands come from

Planner blogs disagree with each other by design. That is why we publish ranges and a written proposal, not a single heroic number. Figures reviewed August 2026.

  • Cedar Tree and Kuber 2026 published wedding catering ranges (about AED 150–500 / 150–600).
  • Eventify 2025 vendor-database budget notes (catering often 25–35% of a wedding).
  • Hotel package PDFs around AED 380–545 inclusive at 200-guest minimums.
  • myCHEF Dubai Catering Prices Guide 2026 (food-led buffet and canapé bands; chef-led plated band).
  • UAE VAT 5% (Federal Tax Authority).
  • Published CID alcohol-permit figures around AED 1,250 a day.

QUESTIONS

Wedding catering cost questions

It depends which product you are buying. A staffed wedding buffet in the wider Dubai market typically sits around AED 180–350 per guest. A chef-led plated dinner in a villa, myCHEF’s core product, typically sits around AED 700–950 per guest. Five-star hotel packages often sit at AED 380–800+ and may already include the room. Those are planning estimates, plus 5% VAT. The written proposal is the contract.

There is no single per-person number. Drop-off food can start around AED 120 per guest. Staffed buffets and stations sit higher. Plated villa dinners sit higher still because a named chef and service team cook on site. Compare formats before you compare head-rates. See the estimate table on this page.

Hotels sell packages. Independent teams usually sell an itemised plan: food, staff, rentals, extras, VAT. myCHEF does not publish a fake package ladder that mixes a AED 120 drop-off with a AED 750 chef-led dinner. Ask what is inside the number.

Affordable means the right product for the room, not the lowest headline. A drop-off buffet for a garden lunch is a different buy from a plated villa dinner. Mixing those headlines is how couples feel overcharged. If you want the lower band, say so in the brief and we will build that product — not dress a chef-led night up as a cheap buffet.

Small tables often cost more per guest because the chef and core team are divided fewer ways. Chef-led evenings also work to night minimums already published on the site — often around AED 2,400 / 3,600 / 4,500 depending on the team — rather than a cheap head-rate. A 20-guest dinner is not a 200-guest banquet scaled down.

A staffed buffet is usually the lower per-guest food-and-service number. Plated service needs more cooks and waiters timed to courses, so the head-rate rises. Hotel plated packages can look mid-range because the room is in the same invoice. Independent plated villa dinners sit in the chef-led band. Buffet versus plated explains the service difference; this page explains the money.

VAT of 5% is its own line. Staff, tableware, bar, cake and rentals are included only when the agreed plan says so. Alcohol is venue-licence dependent and is coordinated with the venue or a licensed partner. If a quote hides those lines, it is not cheaper — it is incomplete.

There is no single number for halal wedding catering prices: guest count, menu, service style and staffing move the figure. Our indicative starting point on this page is AED 120. Send the date, headcount and venue and you get an itemised proposal — food, chefs, staff, hire and 5% VAT shown separately — usually within a working day.
