In Outdoor & Destination Dining
On a sunset yacht trip in Dubai, the food plan works in two windows: lighter food and drinks while guests board and wait for the light to change, and the main meal in the hour after sunset, once everyone has settled. myCHEF provides the food, chef and service onboard only — the yacht itself belongs to the owner or charter company. Plan the service around your departure time through our yacht catering service, not the other way round.
Three service windows to plan around
| Window | Approach | What works |
|---|---|---|
| Boarding and departure | Drinks and easy finger food handed out as guests settle | Canapés that need no cutlery and no plates on laps |
| The sunset stretch | Keep it light; photos and conversation lead | Refills rather than a formal course |
| After sunset | The main meal, when the boat is steady and guests are seated | Plated or buffet service from the galley |

What changes the timing
- Departure time: an afternoon departure puts the main meal later and adds a hungry hour; a later departure shortens the gap between windows.
- Guest count: larger groups need a longer boarding window for drinks and canapés to land before the main.
- Season: summer evenings shift the comfortable hours later; winter departures can run earlier and cooler. Confirm the sunset time for your date when you plan.
- Galley space: what can be cooked or finished onboard versus brought ready to serve.
Menu choices that suit a short evening
- First window: canapés and skewers; nothing that needs both hands and a plate.
- Main window: one strong main rather than several delicate courses, with sauces and sides that survive a moving table.
- Finish: boxed or trayed sweets so guests can eat standing or take them ashore.

Confirm before boarding
- Departure and return times, and who confirms them with the vessel operator.
- Whether a chef and server travel onboard, or food is delivered for crew service.
- Galley access, power and what equipment the boat provides.
- Dietary requirements by name, collected before the day.
- Who onboard is authorised to receive the delivery or brief the chef.
A worked outline (hypothetical)
A group of twelve books a three-hour evening trip. Guests board to passed canapés and drinks; refills continue through the sunset stretch; the main is served about forty minutes after the sun has gone, from a plated service the galley can manage for twelve. Sweets are boxed for the return leg. The outline is hypothetical; it shows how the windows fit a short booking. The three-hour yacht food timeline expands the same approach.
